Down Syndrome model

I read this article with great interest.  First of all, I thought it was amazing that a company chose to highlight a baby with Down Syndrome as the cover model on their catalog.  Some might consider it daring.  I consider it inclusive.

Second of all, I don’t recall anyone asking Brooke Shield’s Mom, or Jody Foster’s Mom, or any other baby’s Mom if they were exploiting their children when they modeled as babies.  So why this baby?  Why this Mom?

As for the comment that Valentina was chosen as the model because the company wanted to “draw attention to itself”, doesn’t every company choose the model the use for that reason?
